I was road MP and CID in the end my career in the Army. I was also deployed 4 times but that is not how I got my PTSD. I got my PTSD from seeing violence and experiencing violence as a lawman! I have tried to kill myself and have flash backs!
I was in the military as a cop!

Since your PTSD is not service connected they will not give you disability pay,but you can file for Social Security disability.
And YES you can recieve treatment at any VA hospital or clinic.
It may be free or may cost a little depends on your income.
I myself am going to VA for mental problems and I believe they are helping me alot.

You should discuss this with the VA psych. Could be either one or both contribute to your PTSD. Best advice I have. Besides which if you are going to try to get the VA disability you will have to talk to the psych anyway. Good luck.
Call the DAV in your area and get yourself a Veterans Service Officer (VSO). They know how to file PTSD claims and will help get you sorted out.
if you got your PTSD from beign a cop, they will not give you benefits for the military. you can only get ebenefits for PTSD you get from the military. this would be a preexistign case and they do not give you medical $$$ for a preexisting case. They can treat you, but they will not retrain you or give you $$$.

I’d say that counts. Police things might have transferred in your mind so that they are now a trigger.
Or did you have PTSD before entering the service?
You probably still have a very good argument if the symptoms worsened while you were serving or afterwards.
Get yourself help immediately if you are currently having suicidal thoughts. Call the VA, call a helpline, tell a friend, anything.
Other than that, do what another poster on here has said and contact a Veteran’s Service Organization such as DAV or the VFW and ask them to help you with the VA’s process.
The VA should treat you in the meantime, as they will treat all symptoms and conditions possibly related to combat service for five years after separation from the military.
Can the person of this thread contact me directly. I am in the same position. Obviously the previous replies have no clue what they have talking about. I currently have a service connected disability rating which is not the traditional military job related stuff, but I was diagnosed with a life-term disease while in the military. Again if there is some way the orinator of this thread can contact me, we may know each other.
you said you were an mp and cid right? If the violence you experienced while performing your duties as an mp are what you are referring to, you are definitely entitled to some type of benefits. Don’t listen to the people trying to make you feel like you are wrong to seek help, they obviously don’t know how debilitating PTSD is. I never quite understood disability compensation for ptsd until I started experiencing the symptoms myself, I found out how difficult it is to do any normal daily tasks not to mention keeping a job. You just don’t give a shit about anything. Go talk to the VA they aren’t going to accuse you of being a faker and they will try to get you as much help as they possibly can.
If your PTSD was the cause of your service then i am most certain that you will be avaliable for VA disability insurance. My brother is in the exact same position as you and he currently recieves disability insurance. Apart from the fact that his insurance is purely service related.

yes u can get 50% for PTSD from a VA claim as long as u were in a combat zone, I had 1 tour overeas and i am getting 60% for PTSD, but would trade 50% to not have PTSD.
go to your nearest VA hospital and get checked out.
