how and when did Howie Mandel get his phobias?

I saw a video of his early stand-up years and he shook hands with the hosts and had no problem with it. So i thought that he hasnt always had his germ phobia or OCD. Does anyone know why, how or when he started having the phobias?

I’ve known a few people that have had anxiety so badly that they have hardly been able to function without medications. I do alright, but I get extremely nervous on exams and job interviews, and will often make a mindless mistake out of fear and anxiety. What have some of you long-time sufferers of anxiety done to help yourselves during times when anxiety could have made or broken you?

I feel like it’s ruining my life! I am OVERLY aware of EVERYTHING and soooo self-conscious. I even have phone anxiety. It seems to get more intense as I get older. I was outgoing as a child and it slowly started in middle school and is at an all time high for me now that I am 23. It brings on depression as well and makes it hard for me to concentrate or relax …or even sleep well. I would give ANYTHING for ONE day to be "easygoing & carefree". Is there a scientific explanation for any of this? How have you battled this? Techniques and/or meds? I was on Paxil and it was awesome except it ballooned me up to 230 pounds and completely took away my sex drive. I’m really sensitive to medicines. I can’t even take birth control. HELP!
Thanks for the helpful answers. Please avoid answering if you are telling people to "get over it" etc. It’s not that easy..because if it were..people would! It’s an imbalance. Also, I’m not sure about everyone, but I’m sure my abusive past has intensified it..which I’m working on freeing myself from. It isn’t as easy as "just fixing it" so keep your ignorant comments to yourself. It’s like me preaching to someone with cancer and telling them " Well you need to be positive and stop feeling sorry for yourself..eat healthy and you will get better". Doesn’t work that way!

well u know guys , i always feel sick and not ready to do anything , am afraid to do things even before i do it cuz i know i might get stressed , and every time i got to work i feel so nervous cuz my work involves dealing with lot’s of people , i gues am most nervous when am among lot’s of people . i feel always guilty , i think i knew the reason it something happened in my childhood , but i don’t ever wanna talk about it to any body , something i did when i was a child , that’s all so can u help me , but without going to see a doctor , cuz maybe i’ll be more nervous when i talk to some stranger about my owen personal stuff u know , plz help !

I keep obsessing over my tmj. I get tense, heart rate increases, dizziness. He does’nt understand anxiety and it’s pretty severe right now. Waiting for the Zoloft to kick back in. How do I explain this to him?

bless his hart i have not been the best mother I’m in the process of finding counselor if there is there any thing i can do to help him right now every thing i have seen on the web is for adults.can anyone recommend a web site geared twords helping a child with these issues hes an only child also i know hes depressed quite a bit over that.thank you

I was just wondering. I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder.. Can I get a job in the health care system such as a nurse ?

And I have three criminal charges pendign against me .. DUI, Reckless drivign and leavign the scene of an accident. It was a one time thing, after I took prescribed medication. Can I get any job with these charges against me. My next court date is June 30th
