Is Post Traumatic stress disorder in anyway related to Phobias?

writing a paper for my psyc 100 class on phobias and came across PTSD and kinda would like to see how the two are related. Are they similar? Have kind of found that Phobias can be caused by traumatic events and obviously PTSD is too.

I’ve recently been diagnosed with PTSD. The mental health center has approved for me to get psychiatric help through the state and it will be paid for. However; I’ve been waiting around for over a month now and they aren’t doing their job. I haven’t even gotten my first session or have they made an appointment for me. I call every week to follow up and they would give me some BS excuse. I know that my problem is a very serious one and know that I’m in need of help. I’ve actually gotten worse ever since I’ve found out that I was diagnosed with it. I was the one who actually diagnosed myself first then went to an assessment to find out if I was right. And now that I know I have PTSD and trying to seek help and the state isn’t doing much for me yet. I wanted to know if there is anyone out there who has PTSD or know about the problem and can help me. Are there any better ways to cope with PTSD than sit around waiting for a psychiatrist?
Okay, well like I said. I’m approved from the state to get treatment but I highly doubt that they can put me under SSI without even one visit to the psychiatrist first. I’m becoming more sensitive to a lot of things… Almost anything would trigger my problem and I would cave away and/or push my BF away as say the meanest and most unhumane things. =( I can’t stand seeing myself like this much longer……

I suffer from PTSD and had a partial memory of sexual abuse as a child. What can I do to get rid of my PTSD?

I have headaches and anxiety and am afraid to get in relationships, much less approach a girl (even though I am a pretty good looking, intellegent guy). Everyone else in my family has family with kids. I am getting older and want this for myself, but I want to get rid of the PTSD first. What can I do??
I self diagnosed it as such. I have seen a therapist who believes it is PTSD as well. I also saw a psychiatrist who thinks it’s bipolar although I disagree with his diagnosis. I started having this memory about 2 years ago and It was so painful that I pulled back. It feels like something is stuck there and I don’t know what to do. I am on Paxil and Remeron right now and they work great for my depression. What would help with my headaches?

I am leery of taking any more drugs since I don’t think they really help the underlying problem. I want the memory out and gone. Everytime I try to relax and let it out, I can’t get to it.

What is the difference between post traumatic stress and PTSD?

I can find out quite a lot about the symptoms of PTSD but without a copy of the DSMV 4 I cannot find out what the exact symtoms of PTS are and what differentiates the two.

This is for my All Quiet on the Western Front English Project. We are analyzing the effects of war on soldiers, and more specifically the mental aspect.

Since PTSD is such a large disorder, we are focusing on that.

My friend served two tours overseas with tha Army. When he returned from combat he was diagnosed w/ PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) He’s been out of the Army for a year now and is thinking of pursuing a career in law enforcement, will his diagnoses of PTSD disqualify him from doing so? Only those with knowledge of the requirements need respond. Thanks =)

I was medically discharged due to hearing loss, from the military after returning from my second tour in Iraq. I have been going to counseling for PTSD and been thru 8 jobs in the last 3 yrs. I lost custody of my daughter, had my house foreclosed on and cant hear very good. I dont want to be another homeless veteran!
